This video is of the various county roads between Arkansas Highway 219 near Ozark to Arkansas Highway 103 south of Oark. Until recently, this was not passible by road bikes as much of this was gravel.
After learning that the main way to Oark from the PIg Trail was freshly chip-sealed, we had to find a non way to Oark that avoided most of the switchbacks on 103 to accommodate some riders who aren’t into that type of thing — i know, right? Anyway, after some recon by a local rider determined that this route was, in fact, paved, it was added to the Oark ride. Turns out, aside from the smell of chicken farms, this is a really nice ride. The road is bumpy in places, but the scenery is nice and there is virtually no traffic.
The next time you go to Oark, you should give this route a try. It doesn’t add too much time to the route if you are coming from LR, and if you are coming from anywhere west of Clarksville, this is a nice way to go if you aren’t a fan of the steep mountain drives found on highway 103.
